Aris’s Birmingham Gazette – Request to return property looted in riots

8 August 1791

WHEREAS it is well known that divers Persons still withhold Books, Paper and other Property belonging to the Dissenters, whose Houses were pillaged during the late Riots; all such Persons are desired to restore the same within fourteen Days from this Date; and they are hereby reminded, that it is Felony for any one to withhold any such Property, or even to have it in Possession: and should any one destroy or wilfully secret, or make away with any of the said Property after this Notice, they will be punished and the Law directs.
