Letter from Erasmus Darwin to Matthew Boulton, 1795/03/13

13 March 1795

Darwin writes to Boulton to recommend Dr Salt to the position of physician to the Birmingham Dispensary.

—————————————-

Dear Sir

I take the liberty to recommend the bearer, Dr Salt, to your acquaintance; who has pass’d through his medical studies at Edinburgh with great eclat, as I have been well inform’d by several of his contemporary students besides what I can myself judge of his acquirements in his profession. He afterwards went abroard, and has since practised physic for a time at Kidderminster, but thinks it would be more advantageous for him to settle in Birmingham. Any assistance, you would please to afford him, would be gratefully acknowledged by himself, and confer a favor on, dear Sir

Your obed. and faithful serv.

E Darwin
